German shippers warn Rhine could be 'split in two' by low water

Low water at the Rhine's Kaub bottleneck may drop to single digits this week, risking a halt to cargo traffic and even day-trip/cruise navigation.
That would effectively split the river into two: northern links (e.g., Amsterdam/Rotterdam/Antwerp) and separate southern tributary traffic would keep running.
Several German states have relaxed truck curbs to relieve the transport bottleneck caused by the low water.
