Toyota to build $3.6 billion Texas plant, shift some truck production from Mexico
- Toyota will build a $3.6 billion, 2.5-million-square-foot plant in San Antonio that opens by 2030 and will create about 2,000 jobs.
- Production of the mid-size Tacoma pickup will shift from Baja California, Mexico to the new Texas plant (Tacomas will still be built in Guanajuato).
- Toyota says it remains committed to operations across Mexico, Canada and the U.S. and urged extending the North American trade deal amid recent trade tensions.
