Uber fined nearly $1 billion by Dutch regulators over automated suspensions of driver accounts

Dutch regulators fined Uber €825 million (about $964 million) for violating the EU’s GDPR — nearly $1 billion.
The authority found Uber used fully automated software from 2018–2022 to suspend drivers (sometimes permanently) without human review or telling drivers.
Uber says it will appeal; this is its fourth Dutch fine (including a €290M penalty in 2024 over data transfers).
