Iran war diplomacy turns toward reopening Strait of Hormuz

Qatar pressed Iran to respect freedom of navigation and Tehran agreed to draft conditions to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. has largely stepped back from talks, leaving Qatar, Oman and Pakistan to broker agreements to restore pre-war open shipping — the strait once carried about 20% of the world’s oil.
U.S. forces say mines have been cleared and shipping lanes are open, but traffic remains far below normal, so there’s cautious optimism rather than a full return to normalcy.
