South Korea, US agree on more than $20 billion gas plant investment in Texas, media reports

Reports say Seoul and Washington agreed on about $22.3 billion to build a 6.3 GW gas plant in Encinal, Texas.
The project is aimed at powering rising AI data‑centre demand and would count toward South Korea’s $350 billion U.S. investment pledge under last year’s trade deal.
South Korea’s industry ministry says details aren’t confirmed, negotiations are ongoing, and other U.S. options (nuclear or Alaska LNG) are being considered.
