Shein finds there's no place like China after Vietnam warehouse experiment disappoints

Shein dramatically scaled back its huge Vietnam logistics hub (from 15ha to about 6ha), triggering mass layoffs and a much quieter site than a year ago.
U.S. trade moves — notably the end of the de minimis duty-free rule and shifting tariffs — wiped out much of the tariff advantage for moving production out of China.
Suppliers say China still wins on speed and tiny margins, so Shein is refocusing investment in Guangdong while many makers diversify onto rivals like Temu and Amazon.
