Wildfire of "exceptional scale" burning near Paris

A huge wildfire in the Fontainebleau forest (~40 miles SE of Paris) forced about 15 home evacuations and disrupted highways and high‑speed trains during a busy summer travel weekend ahead of the July 14 holiday.
The blaze has scorched roughly 1,900 acres, with about 400 firefighters and two firefighting planes deployed; aerial operations were suspended at nightfall as the fire kept spreading.
The fire comes amid the Paris region’s third heatwave since May and Europe’s record‑breaking temperatures, which scientists link to climate change.
