Great white shark captured on video in Mediterranean in rare sighting

A diver off the Strait of Sicily filmed what some believe is the Mediterranean’s first underwater footage of a great white — an extremely rare close encounter.
The volunteer said his fingers trembled trying to start the camera, calling the moment “insane” — a dramatic, almost movie-like sighting.
The dive was part of a ghost-net cleanup; the encounter underscores conservation concerns as Mediterranean great whites are considered critically endangered.
