Measures in place to protect historic oak tree

An ancient oak in Manthorpe near Grantham is thought to date back to Sir Isaac Newton's era (at least 200–300 years old), sparking local interest because Newton was born nearby.
South Kesteven Council has put up wooden fencing to limit access after soil compaction and ropes from its branches threatened the tree and public safety.
The Woodland Trust notes native oaks can support up to 2,300 species (326 entirely dependent), so protecting the tree is a win for wildlife and future generations.
