‘Super’ El Niño now predicted to be even stronger and longer. How will it impact you?

Forecasters say there's a 97% chance El Niño will last into spring 2027 and an 81% chance it becomes a "very strong" or "super" event.
That ups the odds of a hotter summer and a winter trend toward warmer, drier conditions in the North and wetter conditions across the southern U.S.
It also typically means fewer Atlantic hurricanes but more Pacific storms — plus higher risk of West Coast high‑tide flooding and harmful algae blooms.
