South Korea's Lee wants military airbase relocated by mid-2028 for chip cluster

The move supports a huge expansion—over $576 billion—by Samsung and SK Hynix to build more chip fabrication plants in the southwest.
Authorities picked a large, already-levelled Gwangju site for its transport links to accelerate the build-out.
