Mammoth remains revealed in Bulgaria after Danube water levels hit record low

Probable ancient mammoth bones appeared on the Danube riverbed near Ryahovo in northern Bulgaria after the river hit record low levels.
A villager found a lower jaw, two tusks and a possible rib; museum specialists will remove and examine the remains to confirm age and origin.
The exposure follows prolonged heatwaves and drought that have pushed the Danube and other European rivers to unusually low levels.
