MacKenzie Scott alone accounted for one-third of America’s $19.2 billion in megagifts last year

MacKenzie Scott donated about $7 billion in 2025 (roughly one-third of that year’s $19.2B in megagifts), bringing her five‑year total to $26.2B across thousands of organizations.
U.S. charitable giving reached $617.2 billion in 2025 (up 5.7%); other big givers included Bloomberg, Gates, Buffett and the Dells, with major funding going to religion, human services, education, health, international affairs and the arts.
Scott gives very quietly—she wasn’t listed on the Chronicle’s Philanthropy 50—says her philanthropy was inspired by past acts of kindness, has signed the Giving Pledge, and still holds about $35 billion in net worth.
