Four more belugas arrive at Chicago aquarium from shuttered Canadian theme park

Four more belugas — Caspian, Peekachu, Rain and Secord — arrived at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium as part of a rescue relocating 30 belugas and four dolphins from Marineland in Ontario to aquariums in the U.S. and Spain.
The move was highly complex and unprecedented, using custom slings and temperature‑controlled transport while experts reviewed years of health records to prepare each whale.
Caretakers say the belugas are social and settling in slowly, trading sounds and “signs of affiliation” with resident whales while being monitored closely for their health and behavior.
