Another New Highest-Paid CB: Patriots, Christian Gonzalez Agree To Record Extension

Christian Gonzalez agreed to a four-year, $135 million extension with $102 million guaranteed — a $33.75M average that makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history, narrowly topping Devon Witherspoon’s deal.
The negotiations were public and tense at times: Gonzalez’s trainer called the team’s earlier language “kind of trash,” and Gonzalez said he was “still frustrated” before the new deal.
On the field, Gonzalez capped a big 2024 season — Pro Bowl, second-team All-Pro, the game-sealing interception in the AFC Championship, and a strong Super Bowl LX performance (allowed one catch for 16 yards).
