US Revives Pressure on Europe to Relax Its Corporate ESG Rules

U.S. ambassador to the EU Andrew Puzder urged Brussels to ease corporate environmental and human‑rights rules, tying the demand to last year’s trade agreement.
He singled out the EU’s CSRD and CSDDD — rules that force ESG reporting and due diligence for companies doing business in Europe — saying they unfairly burden U.S. firms.
Washington also warned the EU not to use upcoming guidance to reintroduce climate transition‑plan requirements as it finalizes compliance rules.
