Swan rescued by kayak released back into the wild

A pub landlord hopped into his kayak to free a swan caught in fishing wire and a large lure at Langstone Harbour when the rescue boat would have taken too long.
The swan was treated at vets and a wildlife hospital overnight and happily reunited with its mate and four cygnets the next day.
The volunteer Sussex Fire & Rescue team — a self-funding crew of 18 — regularly responds to animal emergencies, handling many similar call-outs each month.
