Ukraine to buy Rafale jets, air defence systems under France deal
- Ukraine will use an EU loan to buy an initial 16 French Rafale jets (training in France could start in 2026, with the first four delivered after training).
- Kyiv will acquire four next‑generation Franco‑Italian SAMP/T‑NG air‑defence systems — becoming the first country to deploy that system in combat, with two older versions sent meanwhile.
- France and Italy authorised licensed production in Ukraine of key interceptors and missiles (Aster 30, AASM, SCALP), deepening defence industrial ties as attacks on Ukraine intensify.
