1.6 million cartons of eggs are recalled over potential salmonella contamination

Midwest Poultry Services is recalling nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs produced in Texas over possible Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.
The eggs (sell-by dates July 20–Aug. 17) were sold under several brands — including Kroger, Simple Truth and Brookshire’s — across six states (AR, LA, MS, NM, OK, TX).
Consumers are advised not to eat the eggs and to return them for a full refund; the company paused distribution after detecting the issue during routine monitoring and says no illnesses have been reported.
