Max Scherzer Becomes 11th Major League Pitcher with 3,500 Strikeouts

Max Scherzer reached 3,500 career strikeouts (11th all-time), raising his total to 3,503 and received a brief standing ovation when he got the milestone K.
The milestone came amid ongoing struggles — he lasted 3 1/3 innings, struck out four but walked three, allowed five runs (ERA up to 10.23) and has given up nine homers in 22 innings.
Scherzer had just been activated off the 15-day injured list, but Philadelphia punished him early with homers from Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber as the Phillies built a big lead.
