NASCAR Legend Darrell Waltrip Stepping Away From Public Life For Health Reasons

Darrell Waltrip, 79, has been diagnosed with frontotemporal degeneration, possibly complicated by CTE, and will be stepping back from public appearances as the condition affects his personality and cognition.
He and his family say he’s otherwise happy and is spending time at home with his wife Stevie, their daughters and three grandchildren, and they appreciate continued prayers and support.
Waltrip remains a NASCAR legend — three Cup titles, 84 career wins (fifth all-time), 2012 Hall of Famer and long‑time FOX analyst — still signing off with his trademark, “Boogity! Boogity! Boogity!”
