Hungarian parliament rules out Orban return with eight-year limit for prime ministers

Hungary capped prime ministers at eight years (two terms), a change that effectively bars Viktor Orban from returning to the job.
Peter Magyar, who ousted Orban in April, has a two‑thirds parliamentary majority enabling a rollback of Orban-era measures.
The amendment also paves the way to dismantle the Sovereignty Protection Office that targeted critics and to return large state assets moved into private foundations back to the state.
