Britain will not have to pay Rwanda millions over asylum deal, court rules

The Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled the UK does not have to pay Rwanda tens of millions after Prime Minister Keir Starmer cancelled the deportation deal.
Only four people were ever sent to Rwanda under the plan, and the UK says the previous government wasted about £700 million on the policy.
Rwanda said it respects the decision, but ties with Britain remain strained over a paused aid package and disputes over Rwanda’s alleged role in the DRC conflict.
