As Trump squeezes the International Criminal Court, more countries are leaving

The U.S. is mounting an aggressive campaign against the International Criminal Court — sanctioning staff and pressuring allied states to quit.
Five countries have recently withdrawn or announced plans to leave (Venezuela, Chad, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger), often citing U.S. pressure, accusations of selective/neocolonial justice, or military regimes avoiding accountability.
Withdrawals don't stop investigations and memberships can change — cases (e.g., Venezuela, the Philippines/Duterte) continue, and countries have previously reversed exit decisions or rejoined.
