Oman says the oil spill from a grounded tanker has reached its coastline

A tanker leaking off Oman has spread crude oil onto mainland beaches and is threatening nearby Qabiliyah Island’s marine protected area.
The ship, Caroline Bezengi, was carrying nearly 1 million barrels, is under Western sanctions and reported an explosion in June — no cause or responsibility has been claimed.
Satellite images show the spill now covers about 600 sq km and is rapidly spreading with monsoon winds, possibly reaching other islands soon.
