Supreme Court says Alito’s verbal reaction to Sotomayor was based on a ‘misunderstanding’

The Supreme Court said the tense on-the-bench exchange between Justices Alito and Sotomayor was a “misunderstanding” after Sotomayor read a dissent aloud and Alito appeared surprised.
The incident occurred during a 6–3 ruling on a contentious asylum “metering” policy that requires asylum seekers to have their feet on U.S. soil to claim protection.
