WHO says staff shortage, funding challenges hamper Congo Ebola response

Ebola in northeastern DRC is widening beyond Bunia to six provinces, with the outbreak topping about 3,175 deaths and 6,000 cases.
The WHO has rapidly set up roughly 1,400 beds in 59 treatment centres but says another 1,600 beds are still needed to reach planned capacity.
Officials warn a major bottleneck is a lack of trained staff, operational partners and funding—about 9,000 health workers are needed in total, meaning roughly 5,000 more must be recruited and trained.
