Pride goes ahead despite dwindling sponsorship

Peterborough Pride went ahead on Saturday and still attracted up to 5,000 people despite a sharp fall in local and commercial sponsorship.
Organisers say they lost major sponsors for political and geopolitical reasons (including US shifts and the Israel war) and feel the LGBTQIA+ community is “less in vogue” with businesses.
The council says it supports the event; organisers are urging local backing — especially for trans people they say are being targeted — and want more public and council funding.
