Lane Kiffin Calls End of Annual Alabama-LSU Series ‘Sad’

The storied Alabama–LSU rivalry, played every season since 1964, will no longer be annual under the SEC’s new nine-game schedule — the series resumes in 2028 but becomes a rotating matchup.
This weekend’s game still matters: both teams are ranked and a loss would seriously damage the loser’s College Football Playoff chances.
The SEC assigned three permanent opponents per team (Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State; LSU: Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas A&M), a change coaches like Lane Kiffin say sidelines tradition in favor of money-driven decisions.
