Ilhan Omar casts lone Democratic no vote on Ukraine aid, Russia sanctions package

Rep. Ilhan Omar was the only Democrat to oppose the Ukraine Support Act, saying she supports Ukraine but not broad economic sanctions that hurt civilians and favor diplomacy instead.
The House passed the bill 226–195 with bipartisan backing (18 Republicans and an Independent joined Democrats); it authorizes $1.3 billion in military aid, new sanctions on Russia, reconstruction support for Ukraine, and added Baltic security measures.
The measure now goes to the Republican-controlled Senate — a politically charged step after Republicans and Trump previously blocked similar aid and criticized further Ukraine funding.
