US officials revise claims that government agencies were hacked by Chinese, now say they were targets
- U.S. officials corrected a DOJ statement to say several agencies were "targets" of Chinese state-backed hackers (QTFY), not all confirmed as hacked.
- Reported targets include the U.S. Senate, the Federal Reserve, NASA, NIH and other federal departments in what the government calls a years‑long espionage campaign.
- The FBI affidavit says some 2024 intrusions at national labs and agencies were successful while other attempts (e.g., NASA) failed after patching; China denies the accusations.
