Minnesota Twins Acquire Reliever A.J. Minter In Trade With New York Mets

Twins picked up lefty reliever A.J. Minter from the Mets ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline to shore up late-inning left-handed depth after Anthony Banda’s season-ending injury.
New York got two Twins prospects in return: 3B Billy Amick (No. 21 in Minnesota’s system) and infielder Bruin Agbayani (No. 29).
Minter has been solid this year (1-1, 2.35 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 20 K in 23 apps); the move signals the Mets are starting to sell while the 55–55 Twins push for a postseason spot (3 games back in the AL Central).
