MSF urges Ebola response scale-up as Congo outbreak nears 2,000 cases

The Ebola outbreak in eastern DRC has surged to about 1,926 confirmed cases and 702 deaths, making it the third-largest and fastest-growing on record.
Médecins Sans Frontières says the response is being outpaced by the outbreak and is urgently calling for expanded treatment centres, surveillance, testing and safe burials.
The spread is being driven by population movements and treatment delays — and the U.S. has even barred Americans in Congo from taking commercial flights home.
