Russia's Putin visits Japan-claimed islands for first time; Tokyo protests

Vladimir Putin visited Iturup, one of the disputed Kuril Islands claimed by Japan, following major Russian naval drills.
He toured a local fish-processing plant, inspected large tuna and halibut and sampled fish roe, joking about the "lovely weather."
Japan strongly protested the trip, which came a day after North Korea fired a ballistic missile, adding to regional tensions.
