Israeli, Palestinian civil society groups meet in France as two-state hopes dim

In Paris, Israeli and Palestinian civil society groups and dozens of countries urged the world not to abandon the two‑state solution, with France pushing to keep the issue alive.
The gathering produced an eight‑point "Call for Action" — calling for a ceasefire, halt to settlements, Gaza reconstruction and stronger civil‑society backing — to be handed to G7 leaders.
Western concern is rising over settler violence and settlement expansion (notably the E1 plan); Britain, Canada, France and Norway announced coordinated sanctions, while Israel and the U.S. did not attend the conference.
