Bertha’s gone, but its moisture isn’t. Southeast remains on alert for flash floods

Bertha fizzled over Texas, but its moisture is stuck on a stalled front and could keep flash-flooding parts of the Southeast into the weekend.
Some areas have already seen 4–6 inches of rain (a month’s worth); another 4+ inches is possible and could overwhelm dry ground, prompting flash flood warnings.
Along the Gulf Coast Bertha was mostly a nuisance — dangerous surf, minor coastal flooding and gusts around 40 mph — and the season has been quiet so far thanks to El Niño.
