Beach closed again after asbestos found in sand
- Mount Batten beach in Plymouth has been closed after asbestos fibres were found in 14 of 16 sand samples.
- Two asbestos types were detected at levels classed as hazardous waste, which can be harmful if inhaled.
- The council โ which first found asbestos there in 2019 โ has fenced and signed the area and is carrying out further testing; the beach is closed until further notice.
