Beach closed again after asbestos found in sand

Mount Batten beach in Plymouth has been closed after asbestos fibres were found in 14 of 16 sand samples.
Two asbestos types were detected at levels classed as hazardous waste, which can be harmful if inhaled.
The council — which first found asbestos there in 2019 — has fenced and signed the area and is carrying out further testing; the beach is closed until further notice.
