Dylan Cease was mic'd up in the All-Star Game, chatting strategy with catcher Shea Langeliers and the FOX booth — he even asked “Front door sinker?” on the mound and John Smoltz called a pitch live.
He threw a scoreless first inning, striking out Kyle Schwarber, Juan Soto and CJ Abrams (Freddie Freeman drew a walk).
Cease has been dominant this season — a 2.56 ERA, 148 strikeouts in 98 1/3 innings and 15 consecutive scoreless frames across his last two starts in year one of his seven-year deal.
