Glazing on king's grave damaged by visitor's bottle

A visitor’s Perrier water bottle fell from his cargo trouser thigh pocket and cracked the triple‑glazed viewing panel above King Richard III’s grave.
Specialists will replace the panel in a three‑day £29,830 repair (mostly covered by insurance); the burial site will be closed during works but the rest of the visitor centre stays open.
The grave — of England’s last Plantagenet king, found under a Leicester car park in 2012 — is a protected, globally important heritage site and will be carefully preserved.
