China’s newest aircraft carrier sails through the Taiwan Strait

China’s newest carrier, the Fujian, sailed through the Taiwan Strait this week — its second transit since being commissioned last year.
Taiwan has begun a five-day exercise to practice responding to a possible Chinese attack as tensions and near-daily Chinese military activity increase.
The Fujian, commissioned in Nov. 2025, is the world’s largest non‑nuclear-powered warship and is seen as more advanced than China’s other carriers; the U.S. and allies also send ships through the strait as a warning.
