2027 Gold Cup Format Changes Will See USA, Mexico Part Of Two Groups Of 8 Teams

CONCACAF is changing the Gold Cup to two groups of eight (top four from each group advance) instead of four groups of four, starting in 2027.
The new format guarantees every team at least four group-stage matches—CONCACAF says it will make “every match matter.”
The 2027 tournament runs June 17–July 11 (draw April 8), will include guest Saudi Arabia and likely some U.S. sites — a neat setup after Mexico’s 2–1 win over the U.S. in the 2025 final.
