Khadijah Farrakhan, 'first lady of Nation of Islam' as wife of famous pastor, dies at 90

Khadijah Farrakhan, the longtime “first lady” of the Nation of Islam and wife of Louis Farrakhan, has died at age 90.
She and Louis were married 72 years, converted to Islam in the 1950s, raised nine children, and lived at the movement’s base, Mosque Maryam in Chicago.
Remembered for her community leadership and advocacy for Black women — she spoke at the 1997 Million Woman March and told the crowd, “A nation can rise no higher than its women.”
