Yankees Legend Hideki Matsui Becomes Manager Of Japan's Yomiuri Tigers

Hideki Matsui was introduced as the Yomiuri Tigers' new manager, returning to the club where he began his career.
Matsui starred with the Tigers for 10 seasons (332 home runs, three Nippon Series titles) and left after a 50-homer season to join the New York Yankees.
He later became a Yankees legend — highlighted by being the 2009 World Series MVP — and now brings that championship pedigree back to Japan after a turbulent 2026 for the Tigers.
