Lettuce or salad greens may be culprit in Michigan cyclosporiasis outbreak, health officials say

Michigan’s cyclosporiasis outbreak is being linked to lettuce/salad greens, though officials haven’t pinpointed a specific product or supplier.
Cases have jumped to about 2,640 statewide with 40+ hospitalizations — far above the usual ~50 cases per year.
Officials advise buying whole heads of lettuce, tossing the outer 2–3 leaves, washing or cooking greens (cook to ~158°F), and seeing a doctor for watery or “explosive” diarrhea.
