Tourists left glowing five-star reviews despite obvious giveaways — modern cement columns, a fan-shaped (not amphitheater) layout and a man-made pool — and even fanciful claims that Julius Caesar and Juliet had visited.
After a 10-year legal battle he was jailed and fined for forgery, illegal construction and damaging protected land; the sham site has been seized and faces demolition.
