Opinion - Republicans actually do have a healthcare plan, and it’s a good one

Affordability is voters’ top concern — U.S. health spending jumped to $5.3 trillion in 2024 (about $15,474 per person) while outcomes lag many peer countries.
The Republican-backed Fair Care Act bills itself as delivering universal, more affordable coverage with greater plan choice, age-based pricing changes, and targeted subsidies.
It also aims to lower costs by curbing hospital consolidation and drug-patent abuses — a GOP pitch to show it has a health-care affordability plan before the midterms.
