Hull remembers war heroes at restored cenotaph

Hull marked the 81st VJ Day at its newly cleaned cenotaph, with veterans, families and the community gathering in Paragon Square.
91-year-old Frances Yeaman laid a wreath for her husband and praised how “really beautiful” the restored monument looked.
The cenotaph and Boer War memorial were hand-cleaned in July by Joel Haigh in memory of his D-Day grandfather, a change veterans welcomed.
