Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks Placed On IR, To Undergo Surgery

Panthers backup RB Jonathon Brooks will have surgery Wednesday for a core muscle injury, will be placed on injured reserve and is expected to miss at least six weeks but should return this season.
The procedure is another setback in Brooks’ injury-plagued start to his career—he’s already missed lots of time from torn ACLs in college and the NFL.
Carolina is expected to add veteran depth (likely Austin Ekeler) and has promoted safety Isaiah Simmons to fill Brooks’ roster spot.
