Meta pulls new AI image feature after days of backlash

Meta abruptly pulled Muse Image — its new AI tool that could generate fake images from public Instagram content — after a swift privacy backlash.
People were opted into the feature by default, prompting criticism from groups like SAG-AFTRA and Privacy International about misuse of likenesses.
Meta said it “missed the mark” and removed the feature, but warned it still plans more AI integrations across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Messenger.
