McMahon: Education Department ‘cracking down’ on teachers harassing students

Education Secretary Linda McMahon says the Education Department is "cracking down" on K–12 teachers who sexually harass students and criticized districts that simply reassign accused staff.
Her department cites research finding about 1 in 10 children will be sexually molested by the time they finish high school — a striking statistic.
The department opened an investigation into Los Angeles Unified, warned schools they could lose federal funding for mishandling sexual misconduct, and responded to reports that many accused California teachers kept licenses or were rehired.
